Get a DemoMeet Rosemaylee, a 13-year-old girl from Haiti, arrived in the United States with her family in 2018. When she visited The Heart Institute at Nicklaus Children’s Health System in Miami, Florida, she was diagnosed with a rare and complex defect involving three separate structures in her heart that required immediate surgical intervention.
With the help of our VSI HoloMedicine® software platform and Microsoft HoloLens 2, Rosemaylee was able to better understand her predicament and was comforted knowing the surgeons had a 3D view of her unique case, why she needed the medical procedure, and how the doctors were going to help.

A surgical intervention was performed in unison between Prof. Dr. Kevin Cassar from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Malta and surgeon Dr. Igor Koncar from Belgrade, Serbia using VSI HoloMedicine® and HoloLens to communicate in real time.
In this scenario the patient was suffering from a condition called an abdominal aortic aneurysm where the main artery in the abdomen increases in size with the risk of rupture and risk of death. The procedure, referred to as a Chimney Endovascular aneurysm repair, was completed successfully with the collaboration of the two teams working together in real time but in different countries. The patient was discharged home the following day.
